Release Notes for WinDelete v2.0c - January 1996 ============================================================================ THIS VERSION OF WINDELETE CONTAINS AN ON-LINE MANUAL. TO USE THIS MANUAL YOU MUST FOLLOW THE ONLINE MANUAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! This document contains extra information that is not included in the printed user manual. We recommend that you print a copy of this file and keep it with your user manual for reference. Online Manual Installation Instructions: ============================================================================ The WinDelete CD contains an online manual. In order to use this manual you must have Adobe's "Acrobat Reader" installed on your system. This program can be installed from the WinDelete CD using these instructions: If you're using Windows 3.x, from Program Manager choose File|Run, then type d:\acroread (substitute drive letter for your CD ROM). Follow the on screen instructions. If you're using Windows 95, from Desktop choose Start|Run, then type d:\acroread (substitute drive letter for your CD ROM). Follow the on screen instructions. Windows 95 Notes: ============================================================================ Windows 95 supports all Windelete features with one exception. The system resources section of the System Tuner does not indicate the swap file size. Uninstall Notes: ============================================================================ 1. The Confirm Uninstall dialog box provides the option to make a compressed copy of the application or file you are removing in case you want to restore it later. Enabling this feature will override the previously backed-up file or application. 2. If you're making a compressed backup of an application which you plan to restore later, select all the files in the upper (green) and lower (yellow) tab dialog boxes. The Express mode only removes the contents of the upper dialog box, so there's no guarantee the application can be restored correctly, if you do not select both the green and yellow files 3. If you choose to remove an application which has in icon in both the Start Up and primary application group, WinDelete will perform a more thorough job if you uninstall the item in Start Up first. System Tuner: ============================================================================ The System Tuner's Integrity Check now includes a scan for Invalid Icons. An Invalid Icon no longer references a valid program. System Consultant: ============================================================================ The System Consultant does not report the processor speed as stated in the printed manual. Program Manager Notes: ============================================================================ (This note does not apply to novice PC users. Only experienced users should tamper with .INI files.) When you install WinDelete you have the option to modify the File | Run (or Start | Run for Windows 95) dialog box so that it will always display an "Install with WinDelete" check box. Adding this option places the following string of characters to the WIN.INI LOAD=statement: LOAD=...C:\IMSI\WINDEL2\PMWIN.EXE...( This is PMWIN.EXE's default installation path.) To disable this feature you must remove the previously listed section of the LOAD= statement. Do not remove the entire LOAD= line. Only remove the path to PMWIN.EXE. Any other characters of the LOAD= statement should not be removed. Each string needs a space before and after it to separate it from other strings. .WAV files: ============================================================================ If you have a sound card installed on your computer, WinDelete 2.0 can play .WAV files while starting or exiting the program. To enable this feature, copy the desired .WAV files into the WinDelete directory and rename them WDSTART.WAV and WDFINISH.WAV.
